I was born in Dublin in 1978 and grew up in the seaside town of Malahide. Introduced to art at an early age by my father John, an artist and member of the Back Lane Painters, I have been immersed in the world of art my whole life. My interest in creativity has always extended beyond painting - Design, photography, printmaking, writing, music, poetry and film-making have all offered both inspiration and creative outlets in the past.

Having graduated from Design Communications at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, I went on to work for a number of businesses including Vermillion Design, Ogilvy Advertising and the Marketing Network group.

In 2007 I set up my own business, YAP Brand Consultancy, yet despite this commitment, I have built into my working life more regular times for painting and photography. This has enabled me to develop my skills and explore various creative projects.

My approach to work is quite methodical; I will analyze elements that interest, baffle or inspire me and set about a project aimed at unraveling the mysteries behind them and the techniques necessary to portray them.

What interests me most about creativity is the personal expression; one persons' interpretation of the world can inspire someone while disgusting the next and comforting another. I have huge appreciation for technical skill but it is expression that interests me the most. I feel this expression allows the viewer an insight into the mind of the artist and involves them in the creative process.
